Mari Lwyd Wooden Decoration
Hand printed linocut decoration inspired by Welsh folklore.
Mari Lwyd or 'grey mare' is taken around the village, she is dressed with festive lights and decorations. When she arrives at a house songs are sung or rude rhymes exhanged with the householders.
If the Mari and her gang get entry, the household is said to have good luck for the year.
The Mari is well-known to be mischievous – trying to steal things and chase people she likes – as she goes about her bidding.
